Construction and Mining Technique
The Construction and Mining Technique business area develops, manufactures, and markets rock drilling tools, underground rock drilling rigs for tunnelling and mining applications, surface drilling rigs, loading equipment, exploration drilling equipment, and construction tools.
The business area has its principal product development and manufacturing units in Sweden and in the United States, with other units in Austria, Canada, China, Finland, Germany, India, Japan and South Africa.
In 2008, the business area had revenues of MSEK 31 660.
Customers/Applications
Construction and Mining Technique is a leading supplier to large infrastructure projects, including in particular power plant and transportation link construction projects, as well as global mining companies. Besides drilling rigs, Atlas Copco also manufactures rock drilling tools, such as drill bits, rods, DTH hammers and cutters. Light rock drills, breakers, crushers and pulverizers are used for demolition. Loading equipment is used in underground mining operations and construction projects.

The business area is divided into eight divisions;
Underground Rock Excavation, Surface Drilling Equipment, Drilling Solutions, Secoroc, Construction Tools, Geotechnical Drilling and Exploration, Road Construction Equipment and Rocktec.
